A Child I Knew

from EP 3 'Thornhill' by Joseph Landau

/

lyrics

In the afternoon
With nothing much to do
You had the type of tobacco you chew

Bug spray and a match
We burnt a broken branch
The fire spread and got out of hand

And the flames, they grew
sometime after school
You were then a child I knew

You were lacking charm
Your stepdad`s heavy arm
And the drugs you took to keep you from harm

So you were rude and crass
Til one time after class
The substitute teacher finally snapped

And the flames, they grew
sometime during school
You were then a child I knew

And the flames grew large
but only after dark
could I see the damages caused
